ThinkPad
August 31, 2010 -Just a couple of weeks before I moved to Malaysia my Dell XPS M1330 broke down because of faulty Nvidia chip in it. It was very unpleasant surprise, but fortunately I had Lenovo IdeaPad S9 as temporary solution. So I disassembled Dell and saved some space in my luggage.
IdeaPad S9 did its work well, but it's quite simple thing with small display, so a new notebook was a hight priority point in my plans and last Sunday I went to Low Yat and got Lenovo ThinkPad T410 (sure, no Dell, no Nvidia). It's a very nice thing, well built, powerful (Core i7), relatively light, quiet and cool. Also it has funny ThinkLight® to highlight keyboard and of course famous TrackPoint®. I installed HDD from Dell with Ubuntu (LucidLynx) and it's just working. The only thing I had to do is to reconfigure X and remove nvidia drivers. So I'm quite happy with it, hope it will not disappoint me in the future.
